Terms of service
The agreement between you and Kitchenlore. We have tried to keep it short and plain, and to give you the same rights we would want.
Effective October 1, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Kitchenlore Inc., a Delaware C-Corporation with its principal office at 125 North First Street, Suite 410, Minneapolis, MN 55401 (“Kitchenlore”, “we”, “us”). They cover your use of kitchentlore.com, our app and related services (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to them. Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal information.
1. Your account
You must be at least 13 years old to use Kitchenlore, and at least 18 (or the age of majority where you live) to buy a paid plan. Give us accurate information, keep your password private, and tell us right away at security@kitchentlore.com if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for activity on your account.
2. Your content stays yours
The photos, memos, text and recipes you add (“Your Content”) belong to you or to the people who shared them with you. We claim no ownership. You give us a limited license to store, copy, process, display and transmit Your Content only as needed to provide the Service to you and to the people you share a book with, including sending it to the processors listed in our privacy policy. This license ends when you delete the content, except for copies in backups, which age out within 30 days.
We do not use Your Content to train AI models, we do not sell it, and we will never synthesize or clone a voice from it.
You confirm you have the right to upload Your Content. Family recipes are usually shared freely within families; please do not upload material you know someone else does not want shared, or content copied from published cookbooks beyond what the law allows.
3. What Kitchenlore makes
Kitchenlore uses AI models to read, transcribe and structure Your Content. The output can contain mistakes. We mark spots we cannot read as [hard to read] rather than guessing, and we check quotes against the source, but you should review recipes before relying on them, especially amounts, temperatures and anything that matters for allergies or food safety. Illustrations we provide for your recipes may be used by you for personal, non-commercial purposes, including in printed copies of your family book.
4. Sharing a book
Books are private until you invite someone. When you invite people, they can see (and, as contributors, add to) that book. You are responsible for whom you invite. People you invite agree to these terms when they accept. Content a contributor adds to your book becomes part of your book; it stays there if they leave.
5. Plans, billing and cancellation
- The Free plan costs nothing. Keeper is $9 a month or $90 a year. Heirloom is $19 a month or $190 a year. All prices are in US dollars and exclude any applicable taxes.
- Paid plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. We charge the payment method on file through Stripe.
- You can cancel at any time in Settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period, and you keep access until then. After that your account moves to the Free plan and you keep your book and exports.
- If you were charged by mistake, write to help@kitchentlore.com within 14 days and we will refund it. Otherwise payments are non-refundable, except where the law requires.
- If we change prices, we will email you at least 30 days before the change applies to your next renewal.
6. Acceptable use
Please do not:
- Upload anything illegal, or content that harasses, threatens or exploits anyone.
- Try to get into accounts or books that are not yours, or test our security outside the rules on our security page.
- Overload, scrape, or reverse engineer the Service, or use it to build a competing dataset.
- Use the Service to impersonate a person, including by presenting invented words as theirs.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules. Except in urgent cases, we will tell you why first and give you a chance to export your content.
7. Our service
We work hard to keep Kitchenlore running and your content safe, and we publish incidents on our status page. We may change or retire features. If we ever shut down the Service, we will give you at least 90 days’ notice and keep exports available throughout. The Kitchenlore name, logo, design and software are ours; these terms do not give you rights to them.
8. Disclaimers
Except as expressly stated in these terms, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that AI output will be accurate or complete. Keep your own copies of anything irreplaceable; exporting regularly is free and easy.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Kitchenlore will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and US $100. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
10. Indemnity
If you upload content you did not have the right to share, or break these terms, and someone brings a claim against us because of it, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of that claim.
11. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Hennepin County, Minnesota, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction. Before filing anything, please write to hello@kitchentlore.com; most problems are solved by a conversation. Nothing here prevents either of us from using small claims court.
12. Changes and ending
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will email account holders at least 14 days before it takes effect. If you do not agree, you may delete your account before then. You can stop using the Service at any time. Sections 8, 9, 10 and 11 survive the end of this agreement.
13. Everything else
These terms, with the privacy and cookie policies, are the whole agreement between us about the Service. If a part is unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If we do not enforce a part right away, we have not waived it. You may not transfer these terms without our consent; we may transfer them in a merger or acquisition.
